Welcome to Gul! This very small team founded this ‘zine over a year ago, and we bring it to you after many moons. Prickly seasons both, we waited during times of growth, decay, and above all, change - sweaty, shivering, & blossoming change. We wanted this magazine to show this vegetation in all its possibilities and permutations. We looked for words, poems, proses, and op-eds of the mercurial and the elusive.

 

The Gul Journal’s vision is to publish uncomfortable, eclectic, and disruptive pieces. We aim to disrupt the status quo; we are the politic. To amplify the unheard. To confront the uncomfortable. To marvel in the mundane. We bring to you unapologetic pieces. Here, you’ll find profound analysis served with lyrics, poetry, essays, reviews, culture, and politics.

 

Come with us to the in-between places: the shore, the desert, and the interplanetary void. There will only be life here, so much of it. There are love affairs with books, hauntings, and dreams. Season after season, decay after decay, words shall be harvested among fallen wreaths. We are here to present these words to you as living things. This heavy foliage of our many Gul’s is meant to be unraveled by you, so don’t be afraid, our thorns only prick sometimes.
